HUMAN RESOURCES, A JOB WITHIN A JOB!

HUMAN RESOURCES IS A BUSINESS WITHIN ITSELF

People who do their job well make it look real easy.  I think on every level there is a misconception of duties, job expectations and the difficulty of the task completed.  Managers tend to feel and assume that workers are always goofing off, that for some reason all employees are lazy and require task masters to remain focus.  Employees think that most managers are ignorant, arrogant, self-absorbed, lazy, and do nothing.  WOW? It makes you wonder who is really doing the work huh?  If both ends assume that the other end is doing nothing, then how is worked performed or how does the company grow?

Until you’ve been in both shoes, until you’ve walked in both places, it is difficult to have vision, understanding of both positions.  As an entrepreneur, that is exactly what you need or must have to be effective in your own company!  You’ve signed on to be the manager AND the employee!  If you are late, you don’t yell at yourself but you also do not pay yourself!  Entrepreneurship is a mirror of one’s self that never stops reflecting!  From every bad habit to every good one, an entrepreneur will get more than a glimpse of just who he or she really is in business and life.  It’s not until one steps out and away from a job that time management becomes important or noticeable.  When your every hour is either productive or nonproductive, EVERYTHING becomes clear!

As it relates to building your business and recruiting the best team members, growing the business gets hairy and scary!  Employees do not often share the same vision that an employer does.  An employee typically is looking for work to survive.  He or she may not understand what it takes for the business to thrive and to be honest may not care.  Every employee’s idea of work ethic is different and finding the right combination of people to work in your environment is a job by itself!

Human resources is easily overlooked and often felt or deemed unnecessary by small businesses when in fact the opposite is true.  Having the right team is great for any company and while large corporations often more benefits and larger salaries, there are ways for a small business to compete in the market for qualified candidates and retain those talented candidates!  Don’t try to do this large job on your own.  Obtaining assistance from qualified and reputable services is smart business!   It may seem easy to hire people but just because it looks that way doesn’t mean it is!
